This Privacy Policy describes how Digitech Nomads Private Limited (“Company”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the SyncNomads community platform at syncnomads.digital (“Platform”).
We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently, in compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) as applicable.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Account details: Name, email address, username, and password when you register
- Profile information: Bio, profile picture, location, and website link (optional)
- Content: Posts, replies, messages, and any files you upload to the Platform
Information collected automatically:
- Device and browser information: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device type
- Usage data: Pages visited, time spent, features used, and referral source
- Cookies: Session cookies for authentication and preference cookies for site settings
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Operate the Platform — Authenticate your account, display your content, and deliver notifications
- Send email communications — Account verification, password resets, notification digests, and platform announcements
- Maintain security — Detect and prevent spam, abuse, and unauthorised access
- Improve the Platform — Analyse usage patterns to improve features and performance (using aggregated, non-identifying data)
We do not use your personal data for targeted advertising. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
3. How We Store and Protect Your Data
- Hosting: The Platform runs on a self-hosted server (Contabo VPS, EU data centre) managed by Digitech Nomads Private Limited
- File storage: Uploaded files (images, attachments, avatars) are stored on Amazon Web Services S3 (ap-south-1, Mumbai region)
- Email delivery: Transactional emails are sent via Plunk, which uses Amazon Simple Email Service (SES)
- Encryption: All data in transit is encrypted via TLS/SSL (Let’s Encrypt certificate). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
- Access control: Server access is restricted to authorised Digitech Nomads personnel only

We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the Platform:

Each service processes data according to their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data stored on the Platform
- Correct inaccurate information in your profile at any time
- Download your data via the Discourse user export feature (Profile > Activity > Download All)
- Delete your account and associated personal data by emailing ictadmin@digitechnomads.com
- Withdraw consent for optional communications (email digests) via your notification preferences
Under the DPDPA 2023, you may also exercise your rights as a Data Principal by contacting us at the address below.
7. Data Retention
- Active accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active
- Deleted accounts: Upon account deletion, your personal data is removed. Public posts may be anonymised (attributed to a generic “deleted user”) rather than deleted, to preserve discussion context
- Server logs: Automatically purged after 90 days
- Backups: Encrypted backups are retained on Amazon S3 for up to 30 days and then automatically deleted
8. Children’s Privacy
The Platform is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has registered, we will take steps to delete their account and associated data.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via a Platform announcement. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent revision was made.
